Emerald green invasion

Green color and especially emerald green is on the top of leader in 2013. It is the a symbol of sophistication and luxury that includes also healing and regeneration effect.

Combining it with neutrals will let the color pop up and makes it look visible. If you are not sure about the color to be worn as a top because of your warm skin type, pick any of the bottoms or accessories and you can still hit the fashion wave.

Either you are part of important night event or you walk down the street, emerald will give you exactly what you need. You will never be invisible or boring. Even the casual can be touched with the breeze of sophistication.

Suits and matching patterns

If you would like to spice up your outfit, while wearing suit don't be afraid to mix and match some patterns.
How to do it and not to look like a clown? Easy...Just look for harmony and balance.

Only one pattern (suit) and  it is all grey? It could be boring but not in this case.
Usually great suit is more worn by older men as it represents their experience and wisdom. But in combination with casual shirt or t-shirt it looks like a cool outfit for younger men as well. One pattern presents simplicity, which is more than welcome in this case.

No boredom at all!
One pattern used on 2 and 4 different pieces of garments within one outfit:

One pattern, 2 different pieces of garments: one pattern is always smaller (tie in this case-left picture), not to look overwhelming.
One pattern,4 different pieces of garments: start from smallest (scarf)  to  biggest (blazer).
It will create balance between all of for pieces.

Two patterns, 2 different pieces of garments: Why not to combine pattern on shirt with different one on your socks..It looks very trendy and its a bit of eye catcher. So shoes needs to be definitely well cleaned and wisely picked.
Don't forget to balance smaller pattern with bigger one.Same case for tie and shirt..

3 patterns, 4 different pieces of garments: Combine 3 small different patterns (shirt, bow, scarf) and choose one of them for the third piece.
3rd one should be bigger to balance entire outfit.

Hope it helps ... Wish you a great day.....

Catch of today

Beauty is in simplicity and that's definitely what I like about this style.

You just need some well fitted jeans, white blouse, favorite pumps or flats. You can also spice up the look with some jacket, cross body bag or some huge one. Depends on occasion and mood of course.

My second catch includes a bit of everything.Any of the outfit is easy to wear and I bet you would never say that you feel uncomfortable .....

White and neon colors are still the top ones this summer and you won't ruin anything by taking black dress or dark one depending on your color group.

Dark is great but not too often.Occasionally, sounds great, regularly, looks sad.

Top catch for today:

Black and white pumps, spots and studs ,swarovski crystals,  kate spade watches, swim suit creating volume and sparkle sparkle on your shorts.Any of these pieces wont stay untouched in case of buying it.

Colorful mood

Hey guys,

Sorry for not checking in for a long time. I had to take forced break and  I was not able to add any of the posts....
Fortunately, I am back again to bring you more  posts..

I have picked  for you pants and skirts from Zara that I really like and combined it either with neutrals or other color.

Colors can create miracles not only with your outfit but also with your mood and entire appearance.

So don't be afraid to wear them especially in summer...

As the color of the pant is really bright I have mixed it with neutrals to let it stand out.

Color

I dared to combine 2 colors here as I like the combo of red orange and turquoise ..Always looks fresh ..

Matching 2 colors

Yellow neon, still trendy, great for sunny days and cheering up your mood.

I wish you all great evening and Ramada Kareem to all of my Muslim friends and readers...

Success story - Improve your image - From "I wish" to "I am.."

I have already talked about my job and image consultancy here.

I would like to show you what exactly I meant by it.

Introducing you one of  my great customers, who is coming back to me for shopping and went through my color analysis, style guide plus wardrobe planning and shopping.

Every customer is different, with different needs and wishes. Some, want to loose weight and transform their entire image afterwards, others just need little help with styling colors, hairstyle or make up.

This client is beautiful, but felt like she needs to improve her image to feel chic as a mum of 2 little once. As she was not afraid to call me:

We met,
We talked,
We started....

 My client's wishes:

"I would like to know what colors suits me and how to combine them."

"What designs suits me and how should I combine individual pieces together."

" I need clothes for casual day but want to look trendy and chic."

Areas we covered:  waw factor colors + combinations, designs for exact body shape + style guide, wardrobe audit  and planning + having fun at shopping. Some pictures from our activities are included..

"I would like to know what colors suits me and how to combine them":

Color analysis:

Determining  undertone warm or cold?

Determining particular color group :

"What designs suits me and how should I combine individual pieces together"

Taking vertical and horizontal measurements for personalized style guide:

+ Wardrobe "must have item"

" I need clothes for casual day but want to look trendy and chic"

Final result:

My clients got personalized style guide with all information and pictures about designs she should look for while shopping, to create "waw" effect flattering her body shape.

"Must have" wardrobe item guide that helps her to understand what are basic items that should never be missed out. Most of them in neutral colors. First shopping = planned & missing basic items.

Second one, gave us the space for building wardrobe around and be daring when it comes to colors and its combinations..

We wanted something casual with fresh color combination, making her look younger, self confident and comfortable. We applied light make up and accessorized the look only with the earrings.

Diagonal bangs and a little layered hair, definitely worn down for inverted triangular face shape.

Contact lances instead of glasses - serious look to ladylike one.

One of the outfits I have chosen for her.Gentle but not boring .Why? because of  Colors...

So what are you saying?

Following posts here.

Tahir Sultan & Amira Haroon "talk fashion"

2 more designers interviewed before FFWD starts in Madinat Jumeirah tomorrow from 12 !!!!

Tahir Sultan and Amira Haroon talking about their attandance at FFWD, their style, desire, passion & dreams.

                                   Amira Haroon                                                    Tahir Sultan

What does it mean for you to participate at FFWD? Could you  share with us what is behind the collection for FFWD ?

Amira Haroon:

It means I have to finally get serious about fashion as business and not just play with creativity. There is professionalism and organization coming into the GCC fashion industry and all associated with this industry must comply and accept the challenges it brings.

The collection for season 1 is my true style, and probably my true colors. Very feminine, lots of lace since I live and breathe lace in my atelier, and tons of detail, all from ancient paintings, engravings, tattoos, symbols, everything that defines our ethos and our history and our past.

Tahir Sultan:

My main platform is London Fashion week, I am participating in fashion forward in order to inspire young Arabs, and show a different light on what ready to wear fashion in the gulf  should be about.

It  is  a continuation of the 1940's theme with dresses coats and trousers. The collection is tailored towards this region.

What was the moment that “whispered” you to become a fashion designer?

Amira:

I always wanted to make my clothes, and meddle into what everyone else around me was wearing. I have grown up stepping on toes and hurting egos since most of the times, I've made it my business to mentally design something for everyone - all in my ideal world!  So the whisper has actually been the all empowering shout in the heart and the head.

Tahir:

There wasn’t one moment. I always loved clothes. But I was never sure about how viable it was as a business. Fashion in this region barely existed, so I decided to study art and then architecture.  Eventually though, I went to central Saint Martins to study fashion and then interned with Alexander McQueen and John Gallianno .

Inspiration & muse:

Amira:

I don't have a muse, like I said, I want to dress everyone, by impressing my sense of clothing on them. However I like many beautiful women. Olivia Palermo is the best in our genre.

Tahir:

I am inspired by everything that goes on around me whether its art , food , flea markets textiles, graphics  I find everything feeds my creativity.  I have several muses.

Favorite fashion era :

Amira:

I'm looking back at a hundred years ago nowadays. The onset of world war 1 defined fashion for women for the next hundred years. It was as if by magic, layers of skirting and corsetry were shed overnight to make it more acceptable to wear trousers, simpler skirts and easy hemlines.

Women suddenly discovered the need to be pretty 'and' functional, as nurses on the battlegrounds, trying to find work as widows, managing with half the men around to ride, drive, serve or till for them, and yet look very pretty. Details of hats, sleeves, necklines and hems were altered the most in the second and third decades of the 20 th century and that remains the most curiously inspiring era for me.

Tahir:

There are so many.  I love the Victorian bustles,  the 1930s, the forties. They were all amazing . I think there is such a wealth to choose from in fashion history that  I couldn’t pick just one era or time.

 “Unique style”:

 Amira

Unique style for me is to be able to bring on any mood, always  with a signature undertone, always with a knowledge of your weak points and how to turn them to your advantage, all with the end purpose of looking good.

Tahir

My unique style is a direct reflection of me, and who I am and where I am in my life at the moment.

Biggest dream :

Amira:

I have been brought up with the knowledge and in a culture, where I wasn't expected to work, since it was understood that you work to earn money which I didn't need, or accomplish anything independently apart from maintaining a beautiful house and family.

My biggest dream is to hear my children say that their mother didn't just dress up and party her way through her life, and also didn't just stay busy with odd projects in order to stay busy. I want to leave them a legacy of self esteem built on the basis of discovering your true potential though hard work.

Tahir:

My goals and dreams change as I progress.  I  am currently building my label and trying to figure out where I want to call home.

So guys if you want to see designers and their catwalk this weekend you still have a chance.Go to the event at least 3 hours prior and you can get in!

I do keep fingers crossed to all designers that will be part of FFWD this weekend!
